$25.00

Did you know that 80% of the chronic diseases are lifestyle related and preventable? Obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, heart disease and some of the cancers are completely preventable and reversible! Lifestyle medicine is a medical specialty that uses lifestyle interventions primarily to treat these chronic conditions. There is now an extensive scientific evidence to support the role of a whole-food, predominantly plant-based diet as an important strategy.

Dr. Pooja Gupta has practiced cardiology for over 20 years and now a certified Lifestyle medicine physician who will share the wisdom and art to incorporate fiber-filled, nutrient-dense, and antioxidant and phytochemical-rich minimally processed vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds into our diet. Eating in this way treats the root cause of diseases, strengthens immune system, reduces the risk for several kinds of cancers and restores health.

She will discuss the 6 pillars for a healthy lifestyle with emphasis on food as medicine and stress management with meditation. Recognizing and replacing negative stress responses with healthy coping mechanisms and stress reduction techniques leads to improved wellbeing.

Through her cooking demonstrations, handouts and discussions, she will introduce simple to follow plant-based recipes, shopping tips and time-efficient meal prep ideas.

Whether you are curious to know more about plant based diet, ready to transition or a practitioner in this area, you will enjoy these sessions with a wholesome plant-based dinner, relaxation with meditation and an opportunity for social connection with other participants.
