Thomas Edison 6-8" blooms 3.5 - 4' tall A deep, pure purple that is hard to capture in a photo. An heirloom from 1929. Classic beauty. Thomas has lush, dark green foliage and dark stems. Stunning in a garden setting with tall grasses and perennials. This is a fairly short plant that will need corralling more than staking. The plants are not tall but are not strong enough against high winds. I’m going to make sure we label the tubers when we plant them so I can be ready to coral this year. A little extra care but well worth it.
In 2023 our some of our Thomas Edison plants were the traditional deep purple and some were a lighter, lavender blue. As you know if you grow dahlias, they are capricious!
