Kids Abloom

Nature and children are natural playmates; they’re both wild and messy, unpredictable and beautiful.
— Mark Hoelterhoff

Since we started building our Kids Abloom children’s discovery garden in 2021, we have had a great deal of growing interest and support for this project. To date, we have a list of interested parents that want to be involved in helping us finish the building so we can start offering classes during the 2023 season . We have fenced in the space with a picket fence and built several features, but we have much more to do. We have in place the puppet/music stage, TP play space and have the mud kitchen area ready for this year. We intend to finish the building of an attached patio pergola with a skylight and sizable sandpit for the kids. A section of our wheel-chair accessible nature trail already weaves through the Kids Abloom site.

Enjoy some of our “in-process” photos below. If you are interested in being part of Kids Abloom, fill out the form below. We are looking for volunteers to offer health and nature-related classes and someone to be our activity director.

We want our children to: soar like eagles, reach for the stars, bloom like flowers, and transform like butterflies! Let’s take them outside where those things happen.

Kids Abloom In progress

  • Dream it.

So many hands have already made a statement at Kids Abloom. We now have a sign and entrance arbor. And it took quite an effort to carve out the nature trail, edge it, and fill it with crushed limestone.

  • Music & Puppet Stage

What potential this corner has for fun and creativity! Eugene brought instruments to the Dahlia Fest and the kids had a blast!

  • TeePee

This is our almost completed Indian style teepee. This season we will finish it as part of the nature center that we will have in this corner of the Kids Abloom discovery garden.
